PERSONAL INJURY PARALEGAL
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal with a proven track record of building law firms from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in personal injury law, case management, discovery, writing pleadings, and client intake. Our firm culture emphasizes creativity, innovation, and the effective utilization of technology throughout the case lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in managing a caseload of personal injury matters from inception to resolution.
- Conduct initial client interviews to gather relevant information and assist with case assessment.
- Organize and maintain case files, including client documents, medical records, correspondence, and other relevant materials.
- Monitor case deadlines, court appearances, and statute of limitations.
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop case strategies and provide ongoing support throughout the litigation process.
Discovery:
- Assist with the drafting, review, and organization of discovery requests and responses.
- Conduct legal research to support discovery efforts and case preparation.
- Coordinate and manage the collection, review, and production of relevant documents and evidence.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of local court rules and procedures regarding discovery.
Writing Pleadings:
- Draft and prepare various legal documents, including complaints, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
- Review and proofread pleadings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Conduct legal research to support the development of persuasive legal arguments.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials by organizing exhibits and other supporting materials.
Client Intake:
- Conduct initial client intake interviews, collect necessary documentation, and evaluate the viability of potential cases.
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on case progress, answer inquiries, and address concerns.
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure exceptional client service throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with attorneys to determine the best course of action for each client’s unique circumstances.
Firm Culture and Technology:
- Embrace and contribute to a culture of creativity and innovation within the firm.
- Explore and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Utilize technology to its fullest potential throughout the case lifecycle, including document management, research, and communication.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a personal injury paralegal.
- Certified Paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants, Registered Paralegal through National Federation of Paralegal Associations, or completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program preferred
- Proven experience in building law firms from the ground up, preferably in the personal injury practice area.
- Proficiency in case management software (preferably Clio) and other relevant legal tools including e-filing systems and online case law systems.
- Strong knowledge of personal injury law and legal procedures.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize deadlines effectively.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Tech-savvy mindset with a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance legal practice.
